Building a life in Scotland

Scotland has long been attractive as a destination to start a new life. This incredible country boasts the excitement of city life through its dynamic cities, all with easy access to the wilds of the countryside – an ideal balance for work and play.

Scotland’s large cities offer a metropolitan lifestyle, being packed with bars, restaurants, museums, concerts and everything you would expect and more. On top of this, most Scottish cities find themselves surrounded by countryside towns and villages – which make living the country lifestyle a realistic option without meaning a long commute to the business centres.

Whether you’re an adrenaline junky or you have a more relaxed outlook on life, the Scottish countryside has something to offer everyone. From white water rafting in Perthshire and mountain biking in Dumfries to the peaceful waters of Loch An Eilein and strolling through the beautiful scenery in many of Scotland’s national parks.

In addition to the environment Scotland also offers affordable housing, a well respected education system and great opportunities to build a career.

While everyone has felt the effects of the downturn, it seems that qualified professionals in Scotland are among the first to begin to notice a rise in their pay packets back to pre-crunch levels. Particularly in the IT and computer sectors which are showing the greatest signs of growth with the number of vacancies posted growing for the tenth consecutive month. Scotland is also attracting big names to its cities with rumours of Barclays opening a centre of excellence - which can only be a sign of good things to come.
